The Statesman Journal announced their All Region selections with Coach Houle as Coach of the Year, Meagan on First Team and Elizabeth on Second Team. In addition, Coach Houle was named the 2A State Girls Coach of the Year and both Meagan and Elizabeth made 2A State First Team! Congratulations to all of you! Crusader State Champions Honored at Rally How do you end the week after the Crusader Girls won a State Championship? By giving glory to God, humbly accepting a shower of praise and thanking coaches, parents and fans for their support. All this poured out of players and Coach Houle on Friday, March 7, in a special assembly where the OSAA State Championship trophy was displayed for the entire student body while many shared their special moments and memories from this incredible 2007-2008 Basketball Season. There have been newspaper articles written about "Slaying the Giant" and "SA Girls Win Title for the Ages," all of which speak to the courage and determination this team showed everyone only a week ago. And yet, Friday's rally spoke to the heart and soul of the team - their complete dependence and gratefulness to God for what He accomplished through them. Congratulations to a group of girls who not only achieved greatness (click on images below to enlarge)
The 2008 OSAA Tri-River All League Teams were announced and Salem Academy athletes appeared throughout! Our own Boys Basketball Coach, Pete Potloff, was named Coach of the Year (tied with Kennedy Coach and SAC alumnus Colby Molan) and Senior Meagan Swenson was named Girls Basketball Player of the Year. Joining Coach Potloff and Meagan Swenson with special recognition were: First Team - Calvin Molan (Sophomore) and Elizabeth Beaty (Senior); Second Team - Cameron Osborn (Senior) and Kelsey Barth (Senior); Third Team - Nick Souza (Junior), Michael May (Senior) and Elizabeth Barrett (Senior); Honorable Mention - Tyler Montgomery (Senior) and Kim Empen (Senior). We are proud of and excited for Mr. Potloff and Meagan, said Superintendent Ken Friesen. They are both very deserving of this recognition. In addition, we are proud and excited about the many other Salem Academy athletes who have received All-League recognition for their outstanding performances this basketball season. It is good to see our school so well represented at this level. Homecoming 2007 Friday, October 5, brought everyone out to the Football field for SAC's Homecoming festivities. The evening included the 2007 Homecoming Court, Crusader Chamber Choir performing the National Anthem and the High School Class Floats. Have photos from the evening you would like to share?
