Salem Academy Christian Schools

Salem Academy Christian Schools (est. 1945) - Welcome to SA
College Fair - all Juniors and Seniors

All juniors and seniors will be able to attend the National College Fair on Monday, November 7, located at the Portland Convention Center. All junior and senior classes are cancelled for this day to give students an opportunity to attend the fair. Although attendance is allowed if you do not pre-register, please have your child pre-register in order to get the most out of their day. For more details you can go their website.

Students must meet at Salem Academy by 7:30 a.m. to board busses. Parents please make arrangements for your students to be here early that day. If they cannot be at the school before the busses depart, please notify Mrs. Haslebacher to excuse their absence. There will be no classes for juniors or seniors that day as they are expected to attend the college fair.

We will spend the morning at the college fair at the Portland Convention Center from 9-Noon. Then we will head down to Bridgeport and let the kids have some lunch. Students may pack a sack lunch or take advantage of the numerous places to eat with a wide variety of price ranges. We will be back at school around 3pm. This is an outstanding opportunity for parents to become informed about colleges, too. And we need several adult chaperones. Please contact Mrs. Hall if you are willing to serve in this way. It is a FUN and EASY way to earn your P.I.E. hours!!

Choosing a College

There are a variety of college options - community, 4-year, vocational and more. Wonder which one might be a good fit for you? Whether you are a junior or a senior, it is always good to have a "to do" list for planning. Letters of Recommendation

Many universities require letters of recommendation from guidance counselors, pastors, and teachers. In order to give these people the best chance of writing a great recommendation, students should provide a deadline (give them at least three weeks), a copy of an awards and activities sheet, and a pre-addressed stamped envelope. View an example of an awards and activities sheet. Many other examples can be found on the internet.
