Board of Trustees Function

The Salem Academy Board functions as a governance/policy Board, which means that they are not involved in the day-to-day operation of the school. It is the role of the superintendent to lead the school. The Board’s role is to set governing policies by which the school will operate and the superintendent will lead.

Interaction with the Board

The only setting in which the Board functions is in the context of quarterly and annual meetings, and emergency meetings as needed. Quarterly Board meetings are open to the public for those who wish to attend.

If individuals wish to address the Board they must make arrangements to do so in advance of a Board meeting. This can be done by contacting the superintendent and conveying the item/issue requesting to be addressed. The kinds of items that the Board will address are those related to the governing policies of the school. Items that are related to the day-to-day life and operation of the school are addressed with the superintendent and/or the staff member most responsible for the area to be addressed.
