It's official. Salem Academy has added high school swimming for the 2011-12 school year.
We are also excited to announce the hiring of Maria Robertson as the program's first head coach. Coach Robertson currently teaches Math here at Salem Academy. Maria started swimming competitively at 8 years old and continued through her senior year of high school. During high school she swam for both Bellingham Bay Swim Team (club) and at Ferndale High School where she was the first swimmer to qualify for state championships (and where at one point she held every record except the 100 butterfly). She was MVP all four years of high school, and voted the “most friendliest” on her club team for three years. She continued to swim independently in college and has long desired to give back to the sport as a coach.
