On Thursday, October 13, before the Crusader football team defeated the Toledo Boomers, time was set aside to recognize those who made Salem Academy’s new turf field possible. In addition to recognizing the parents and coaches (Matt Bain, Kirk Larsen, David Daniels, Steve Outslay, Coach Stomps, and Pete Potloff) who through their amazing efforts made this dream a reality, there were many individuals (view list) who donated their time and monetary means to the completion of this field; as well as, our construction partners who worked tirelessly to insure the field would be complete for our first home game! Thanks to all our partners, donors and supporters!
Special recognition was given to Mr. Marvin May for his generous contribution to this project. It was Mr. May who provided the inspiration for this dream to become a reality. He challenged the original group of coaches and dads by telling them he would put up the first $100,000 if they could go out and raise the remaining $300,000 needed. The rest, as they say, is history. As Dr. Friesen shared, We thank you Mr. May for your generosity to this project and for providing the inspiration to move a dream to reality. Without you it would not have been possible.
